The basic use of longer rad arms is the tire can move up and down further, allowing the tire to travel farther....hence "long travel" kits have longer rad arms as well as longer springs, shocks, and sometimes longer beams. They are used in all types of off-road trucks including rock crawlers and pre-runners. It lessens the caster change as well. It may help if you stand out by your truck and envision what would happen as the truck goes over bumps. Even better, jack up on the frame and watch what happens to the suspension and then try to figure out what's happening and if there are things that you can change to make it better for what you want the truck to do. Your ideas will evolve as you learn more, I know mine have. It also helps if you know what you want to end up with, but plans can and do change.
Soo.... what is it you want to do with your truck?
