i just bought a 88 b2 but the trannie is bad i was wondering if i can use a trannie from a 86 ranger? the b2 is a 4x4 the ranger is not but both have the 2.9l. auto trannie? any help will be great thanks

I would assume not unless you plan on taking out the t/case and having a driveline made for it. Then you'd be 2 wheel drive.

Just go ahead and throw a manual in it. It's an easy swap. Plus the A4LD is a piece of s**t!!! Throw an M5OD-R1 in there and you'll never have tranny problems... at least not for about 100,000 miles.
