Hey guys I just picked up a 94 explorer that's missing one of the front manual hubs, the guy's been driving it like that for a couple months now with the bearings exposed... I hit up the junk yard and could only find an auto hub, my question is will the auto hub fit on it for now till i get the proper replacement hub? Just to seal it up.

Thanks for the help:icon_cheers:

Shit if he's been driving like that for a few months whats another week until parts arrive.

I don't think the auto hub will fit over the manual nuts.

I don't know about putting an auto on manual hardware, but this is what happens when you put a manual hub on auto hardware.

Well i would wait but the bearing sounds like death and i have got a long drive ahead of me this week so i would like to replace the bearing today and get it sealed up some how first, can't wait for the proper hub sadly. How hard is it to gut an auto hub get all the shit out of it so it's just a empty shell. The 4x4 is not working any way so i am in no rush for a working hub just need the bearing sealed really.

And dam RICO9 remind me never to do that lol.

yes it will fit.. just have to pull the cam out of the auto hub.. i used to weld the auto hubs to make drive hubs. never had to worry about them coming unlocked. i had them on manual hardware due to the nature it was easier to take apart. had it on my race truck and it worked gerat

Sweet, thanks and good to know destroyer, I am guessing that snap ring at the bottom of the hub unlocks the cam, any tips for removal?

pretty sure there are 2 snap rings on the auto hubs, one on the outside housing holding all the guts in and one in the center splined portion, but I could be wrong (it's been 5+ years since I've been inside an auto hub). Usually pulling the snap rings and smacking the hub open side down on a soft surface (like a piece of wood) will make all the guts slide out.

Yeah i just wanted to keep the dirt out so i slid them on and went to push it back outside with the forklift and both hubs simultaineously exploded.
