the steering wheel in my 98 ranger always feels oily when it's warm out. when it's cold it doesn't feel like that. i've tried different cleaners. the steering wheel isn't 'coming apart' inside and seperating or anything like that. it's actually in really good shape and doesn't show any signs of wear. i think i'm just gonna have to get a cover...:icon_confused:
anyone else get this? will the wheel from a new ranger fit?

i had something like this on my 1990, except it was because it was coming apart on the outside, leaving my hand looking black. I cured the problem with a cover.

same thing happend to my '90 BII. so instead of buying a new cover i convinced the wife to let me get a new wheel from summit after she drove it last year and got that crap all over her hands.

I have somewhat the same issue. Expect mines tends to be sticky. Amor All and a good cleaning works great to remove the stickyness.

It seems to come from inside the steering wheel. I kept wiping the stuff off on hot summer days, and it eventually depleted. You could tell it was coming out the seams.

its the grease / oil that they pack inside to keep the leather from rotting i believe..
