hello I have 2000 ford ranger sport step side and i want to lower it down just a bit i have herd alot about putting the axel on top of the springs and cutting 2 inchs off the front springs would some on help me on what i need and what to cut and with the back do i need to cut that braket offf or dose it matter any help would be greatly need and used thanks for your time

Well As for putting the axle on top of the leafs springs you will need to put a flip kit, or make a new bracket to keep the axle straight.

And if you do flip the axle you are going to end up with about 4in of drop and it will not be level with the front even if you cut your coils.

However if you are wanting to get a level drop, on the cheap, you can flip your rear hangers. If you check the technical library it will give you direction on how to perform this task.

After you flip the hangers and cut your coils you should net around a 2in drop. Good stance.

But if you are wanting to go lower you may want to check into getting a complete drop kit. DJM has one for the 98-up Rangers that drops the suspension 4in front and 5in rear.

I ran that kit on my truck for about 6 monthas and decided to go lower.

I hope this helps you, and if you have any more questions feel free to shot them this way.

thank you it dose help alot all i need to no now is braket that is on the axel now goin to be able to use again or do i have to make new ones

A flip kit from DJM has a bracket that fits under the axle and basically hooks in the bottom of spring perches.

a flip kit is your best bet if you want to go spring under axle.

you could re-use your current perches, but you would have to cut them off the axle and weld them back on underneath...and you'd have to re-set your pinion angle. with a flip kit, pinion angle is already set and its 100% bolt-in.
