tranny problems

went mudding the other day and i started to get stuck so i gunned it to try to get out and by the time i got out i saw smoke rollin out from my hood and i could not put it into gear and all the trannt fluid was gone and the bottom of the tranny was clean

i have a automatic what could it be?

Refill the tranny and try to find where's the leak. And from where came the smoke. Have you checked the hoses to the trans oil cooler ad the oil cooler themself. If your oil cooler is in your rad, check the coolant. I've run throught some cooler breakdown and the oil where going into the coolant.

i really dont know where the smoke was coming from but i put more fluid in and no metal on the stick and it didnt leak in neutral but i didnt have a chance to put it in gear cause is it on jack stands
