Fix it till its broke!
You know the ones that slide around? I recently rebuilt a toolbox and it didn't come with them. For the life of me I can't find a local place that sells them (preferably cheap). I see them online but 30 bucks plus shipping for one is ridiculous.

Anything I can use thags similar? I toyed with the idea of building them out of wood but that seems like such a hassle...maybe some of those silverware trays? Lol

check your local Rural King, Big R, Farm and Home, or whatever you have in your area. I have 3 in my box and two extras laying around somewhere...

I bent some heavy gauge metal to make some trays. I bent a 1" lip on all four sides using my brake. You can use some 2x4 and a hammer to do the same thing. I would clamp the short edge, screws or c-clamps, then hammer the large leftover portion to achieve the bend. That way the lip stays straighter. A sheet metal access panel for a furnace comes to mind as a piece that would have two edges already bent. If you have a metal scrapyard nearby go check out the place where people leave their stuff on week-ends. And if you ask, sometimes the dump operator won't mind if you salvage a little out of the local dump.
Good luck,

Richard

I think i only paid $12 or $13 for mine. compared to the $30 on the internet. another possible solution if you don't have one of the above mentioned farm stores nearby would be to find any store that stocks a wide selection of tool boxes. find the right guy there and ask if they have any extras or spares laying around that customer x didn't want. you might score a few for free. if that doesn't work ask if you can buy the trays out of one of the boxes they have on display. if the store is worth a damn one way or another you should walk out of there with a couple of trays.

Hmm good ideas so far. With these things as prevalent as they are, I figured there'd be a whole aftermarket at places like Lowes and home depot, lord knows they sell toolboxes and carry all kinds of junk anyways lol.

Harbor Freight!:icon_bounceblue:

sears ,ace ,kmart, walmart. Not sure but try any of them

They sell them at Lowes and Home Depot

Ya I know for sure they have them at Lowe's. I was looking to buy a new box and they had the best price on one. Finally decided to Rino-Line my box when I was doing the bed. Sorry but I don't remember what they wanted for them but I believe it was like 15.00. I don't think they are on there website cause I don't think they would (or someone would pay to have a box shipped)

I would call them and ask. Are you far away from one.

Well don't want the whole box lol just the trays. And not too far just don't wanna drive the few miles for nothing, plus zero time to boot. Anyways I'll probably check it out later. Autozone has then but only special order. Obviously online I can find then but I don't really wanna pay shipping on something that cheap lol. :D

I will go by Lowes in the morning on the way home from work. Have to get some sprinker parts anyway.

I thought that too, but when I look on their website there's nothing even close...:(

I can't find them on the website either but the store has a stack of them.:icon_confused:

Okay so I went by Lowe's today and they are there. At this one they are 20.00 a piece. Looked over at the kitchen origination isle and didn't see anything that would fit.
