Ranger 2.9L Randomly running rough/rich

1987 ranger 2.9L ranger runs and starts good most the time, Ocassionally it will start to run rough or rich cause i can smell it.

This usually doesnt last more then a couple minutes but when it is doing it and i put my foot right too the floor it revs right up

Any ides?
 
Any codes?
What's your fuel pressure running?
What's the last thing you messed with?
 
With the engine running grab the ignition wires without making contact with the body of the truck.

If you get zapped you need new wires because the insulation is shot and they are arcing the block outside the cyinder and you are only getting partial spark.


If you don't get zapped, replace the oxygen sensor.
