whats the best SAS version for hauling

I will be eventually doing a SAS to my 94 2wd ranger & currently its a std cab long bed, but will be a ext cab long bed & I haul scrap metal & old appliances daily & also have a slide in Camper for going camping.

I plan to use the D30 front axle I have from my 88 Jeep Comanche truck ,but im wondering should I set it up using coils or using leaf springs in the front.

I realize that most weight will always be on the rear ,but it still will effect the steering.

The best SAS for hauling is no SAS, that being said coils handle way better on the road

I wouldn't carry a kids 4 wheeler in the bed with a 30 under the front much less anything heavier. Better upgrade to a 44 rather then downgrade to a 30...

D30s have been around for yrs & can be safely used for occational 4wd with 33s. Im not looking to be jumping or rock crawling anytime in the future. Plus I already have the front end & I have freshly powder coated wheels with 5 on 4.5 bp that my 33s BFG KM2s are mounted on. D44 or 60 never had that bp

You were right when you said the weight is carried on the rear axle--the strength in the front doesn't matter. The 30 is a good choice because the truck doesn't have to be lifted that high to make it work. Also, you can get rid of the TTB and its scary steering, which is magnified by a squat in the rear.

If you want to get technical a D35 or even a D44 would be a downgrade from a durability standpoint too, it is much harder to break axleshafts and differentials on a TIB than it is on a TTB or SAS.

With a 2.3 I wouldn't think twice about a D30 swap.

My d30 SAS that I did has been great to me. Your only thing you will have to think about is how to hold your axle to your truck.
