Alright, uh, so i'm seventeen and pretty clueless when it comes to wiring and electrical problems in a viecle. :icon_twisted:

i have a 1994 ranger.
It seems that I have a problem with my running lights. They do not turn on or run. however, i still have brake lights. i Checked the fuse & the bulb and they are fine, so i am assuming it is a ground wire problem...but i'm not sure where to go from there. any help or tips is appreciated onto what my next step can be to get my running lights working!

I took mine in yesterday to get the same thing fixed by a pro. I got so frustrated. Turned out it was 3 broken wires close to the fuse box in the engine bay.

Get a voltmeter and start chasing wires. No good tricks for this sort of thing, check all the connections and hope you come across it.

Do the license plate lights work? If I remember correctly, there is a splice on the driver's side frame rail for the brown wire that feeds both the license plate lights and rear running lights. If you follow the wiring loom for the taillights down by the bottom of the tailgate to the frame rail, it should be somewhere by the left rear shackle hanger. The spare tire may need to be removed to find it.

First I would like to thank you guys for all the replies. it is appreciated.

As for my license plate lights, they are faulty. I will look for a splice in the wiring in that location. this gives me a great spot to start. thanks again

Faulty or inoperative? There is a difference.

I'd look at the switch. I bet it is cooked.
