soo I noticed on my explorer I dont have any hubs... and well I dont like that crap... I like being able to lock them in... .what kinda of swap can I do??? and what about the transfercase do I need to change it also???

Straight axle swap will get you lockouts easys enough...

or you can just get manual lockouts for the d35 axle.....

personally unless you are HARDCORE wheeling... the auto hubs work. i've had them on my b2 since i got it... and only broke one. but they lock in when i push the button everytime!

if you want a manual transfer case, that's a hard one to find. look for a bw1354m and shifter with linkage.

1996 explorer has IFS though, doesnt it?

oh.. yeah... so.... uh....

solid axle swap it!

:icon_rofl: That kinda day huh? Been there, bro, been there.

what would I use???? from a ranger??? from an explorer?? what years would be the best... and yes I love to play alot.... and um then damn thing doesnt have hubs........ which i dont like...

Well, since neither of those ever came with a solid axle, neither of those would be a good donor.

If you just want manual hubs, get a Jeep Dana 30. If you want to do something hard core, start saving and researching and get a Dana 44 or bigger.

as in out of a bronco??? hmmm I have several of those laying around.... so new to this and really dont know what is what.... I know where a honda passport is...... front end is still there. its six lug tho...

jeep dana 30... then adding manual hubs. is EXPENSIVE.
you'd be better off finding a matched set of axles and swapping front and rear. d44/9".

honda passport is Independent suspension. not solid front axle....

so new to this and really dont know what is what

So ask somee questions and do a LOT of research. If I remember correctly it is not impossible to swap your setup out for parts from a later Explorer that has a live axle, which is just locked in all the time and can't disconnect.

Any way that you cut it, this isn't a cheap project.
