in my 4.0 4x4 93 ford ranger 5spd 3rd and 4th gear will not pull going down the road but will sometimes when just setting there. Would i be able to fix this or would i be better off getting another trans?

You probably have a shifter issue. I doubt the whole trans is shot.
i replaced the pivot ball still not pulling.

It probably isn't engaging right somewhere else. The ball is the last suspect since it should affect all gears and not just the 3/4 rail.
