Have you ever tested your mpg after your 302 swap? Trying to put together a build plan and just wondering what to expect. So far, I'm looking at a carb'd 302, AOD, 3.73 or 4.10 gears, 31 inch rubber. Thanks!

I would go with 3.73's if you don't plan on going much bigger for tire. With just a stock non-HO roller longblock with a 1403 Edelbrock 4bbl and 3.73's it is very fun to drive.

I only have a 3spd though... :icon_thumby:

My 90 B2 had a stock 2.9/a4ld with 3.73's and 35" KM2's. It got 10mpg at best.

I then swapped in a EFI 5.0 out of a 87 Mustang,c4 trans and the same axles and tires. I now get 18mpg+ on the highway and around 15-16 around town.

I actually drive it to work everyday now {100miles round trup} since my daily 94 f150 only gets about 12mpg

At first I was like how in the ???

Then I saw the 35's, with 31's mine is turning about 2700rpm @ 55mph, it moves a lot of gas.

Around town isn't too bad though if I behave, lower teens (it is hard to behave though :3gears:)

Doin 70mph in the slow lane is right around 2500rpm for mine. Wish I would have gone with 4.56 gears and a AOD tho.

Also I strongly suggest looking into going EFI. You will never get a carb to pull this kind of mileage unless your a carb tuning god. Wiring my truck was very simple for the efi. And as a bonus it will now run while laying on its side!:D

If mine was setup for anything EFI related I would have gone that route too, mine was originally carbed.

I am waiting for an M5OD to come crawling by... I think an overdrive of any kind will vastly improve my milage.
