Refurnishing Interior

I got a ranger and the person i bought it from did the interior in some ugly fabric, if i were to take this off and sand down the door panels is there any possible way i could paint the door panels or would i have to redo the fabric?

i dont but the panels seem to be in good shape just loss of color etc.
