Part Number for Dust Excluder ring

Does anyone know th epart number for the Dust Excluder Ring for the right side axle shaft on a dana 35 with manual hubs on a 1996 Ford Ranger 5 speed manual with the 4.0 liter six in it?? Any help would be REALLY appreciated as Ford has no idea what the part is. I have another post here about that... Thanks so much in Advance.
 
Is this the seal you are talking about? If so, it's Timken Part# 722108.

Shane, I don't think thats it. It's the part that fits on the axle shaft that goes through the spindle and it protects the shaft needle bearing on the inside of the spindle. Thanks though. The one Ford gave me is one for a later model with cv joints
 
That does go onto the axle shaft and sits up against the back of the spindle.
 
As I understand it, the factory spindle seals on the '93-'97 Dana35 are slightly different than what was used on '90-'92 D35s, and don't seem to be available anymore (the Timken part Shane posted appears to be for the earlier setup). The two setups are interchangeable however, you just need to swap over a few other parts at the same time (a gray plastic thrust washer and a V-groove seal that sits around the axle shaft on top of that thrust washer. It's possible you may also need to remove a seal pressed into the back of your spindle).

Timken pt# SBK4 should have all the parts needed (also gives you a new needle bearing too).

I remember my Explorer (91) looked like that way Junkie. I could have sworn my 96 looked different, like the seal I posted. Sounds like maybe it's the reverse.

EDIT: I wonder why Rock Auto lists the one I posted under 96?
 
Because it is the same seal, just the spindle seal itself changed and there is no longer the plastic thrust washer on the shaft. It is built into the spindle seal, which gets hammered onto the back of the spindle now instead of slipping onto the shaft.
 
Junkie, sasquatch. Thats EXACTLY the seal I need. Does Ford have it? or do I go straight to a bearing dealer? Ford cant seem to locate the stupid thing!!! so what part number do I need for that then exactly???

Those are the exact seals a buddy's '93 D35 has, as well as what were on some '95 or '96 D35 shafts I snagged at a junkyard. They are more cup-shaped whereas the older style has the above coned flange seal & thrust washer.

Very oddly though, the '94 D35 under my BII has the older type. I did have some warranty work done on it once when it was still under my Ranger, maybe they replaced the seals with older-style parts? I really don't have an answer and mostly am just guessing. I do know that I've never seen those cup-shaped seals on any of the '92 or older D35s that I've yanked shafts out of however, it's only been on later ones. :dunno:

I'm gonna guess for the same reason most places list Explorer/F-150 8.8" axle seals for a Ranger 8.8, and also numerous other wrong parts if you should answer "3.45" or "D28" (hybrid) when asked what gear ratio or front axle your '93-'97 truck has. :annoyed: At least in this case they'll still fit.
 
Talked to PAt at Bronco graveyard, thats the part alright. Fords been fumblin with this for a while. So Immuh order it form graveyard and give the part back that ford gave me and have em give me my money back.
Why they couldnt figure this out. I dunno. This isnt all Ford Dealers... but the guy said he has sold thousands of these... hahah . I think not.
 
So I got the part will post pics later in my profile pics. I got it from a local parts store through ebay. Which I had no idea they were associated. I have an SKF number of 18844 and its labeled as an oil seal. This is the part that ford told me he's sold thousands of.. YEAH OKAY !! Thanks for all your help everyone, I knew I could trust all yall to find the right stuff. I am also going to order the kit from bronco graveyard as well as I believe the other side will need a new needle bearing and such when I play with that side....
Unbelieveable that the guy from Ford would be so obtuse about it....
