hey, wanted to bring something to this portion of the forum... we are slowly losing our place as the best 4x4 site on the internet... we are currently in 5th place (up from 46th when i first started this mission about a week and a half ago) but we need a lot of help to get to 1st...

i vote from my phone and laptop, even after not voting for 3 or so days, today i tried it again, and there was no difference in the vote count... so i don't know the frequency it allows you to vote...

quality post(ings)
great members
great content (besides posts)

Anyone can code a bot to vote automatically to get a site to be "#1"... but it doesn't mean crap unless you have a great community to back it up.

Plus, hardly anyone visits that site daily except for voters... look at the average time that people are there... 32 seconds... pointless.

Even the BEST buggy whip mfg. went out of business. Face it ,the Ranger as a wheeling platform peaked in 1997 with the last TTB. Now the line is all but dead here in the US. I see on here a limited number of people swapping posts about many NON-Ranger (i.e. Sanctuary,guns,politics,R/C cars,PG-13 Pin up pics) topics.On the flip side the tech section here is WITHOUT EQUAL anywhere on the web.I would bet as many as 80% of ALL tech question answers can be found already handled in the tech section.to illustrate I went to what most people in this area consider the best driveline shop in the state and when I asked his opinion on moding my drive shaft...HE HANDED ME A XEROX COPY OF THE TRS TECH SECTION..LOL he said it was by far the best info on that subject! Made me feel very good about this site..I know this won't change anything so....VOTE EARLY AND VOTE OFTEN:icon_thumby:

I voted...not sure if I mentioned this last month but I noticed that the leaders in this group have very well defined links for votes...as in BIG links on their main page...but, of course, the page layout is also different than this board...allows for a link to stand out more...

It would not surprise me to find they also have members with access to numerous computers that they frequently pop in a vote or two each a day...I have access to three or four different computers but driving around every day to them is, well, not something I can afford to do...

TRS has at least 1,000 active members...and a huge spam bot somewhere with thousands of identities...if we could get the spam bot working for us we could easily win this in a day or two and sit back and watch the others scramble their eggs...

One of them is mine...I now vote every day...sometimes twice a day...and I once voted twice three times...if that's possible...

We could hold onto a top five position if we just continue the way we are...but if everyone voted (a sign in requirement maybe...lol)...

The top site has a button on it that somehow does not require the dance I've had to do with click Vote, then it goes to the 4x4 page where I need to click another link...then it goes to the standings where I have to click the TRS listing to get back to TRS...and that opens a new window with the TRS home page where I need to click on Forums to get back to where I started...then I have to close the 4x4 page...I'm sure that is a bit frustrating for some people...

However, I know, I could just click my bookmarks and I'd be back without the last step, but thought there must be a way to make it click to vote with no other windows opening and no links to click on...hmmmm...if only I'd payed more attention to those web design classes...

I read on that site a few months ago that it takes in the fact how many hits a site gets a day. It totals everything up like every 30 days or so. It does not really mean a vote counts as much as the hits a site receives daily. A vote from the same IP address over and over again would not be accurate. It sees that as one vote and not multiple votes.
