95 xlt 2.3L....trying to change it...how do i get to the housing? I cant even see where the bolts are. in the tech forum they made it sound really easy...but ummmm its not lol

Not sure on the 2.3L....

But on some other engines, the thermostat bolts are behind the serpentine belt tensioner.

Remove whatever is in the way. Follow the upper radiator hose to find them.

yeah, gotta pull some belts, hoses and the front timing cover. Don't get any oils on the timing belt as it may containamate it.

You gotta pull the TIMING COVER to replace the thermostat? Are you sure of that?

That would be some brilliant engineering there....

on mine it has to come off. Its just a plastic cover, doesn't take that long.

figures on my 79 z28 it took 2 minutes to change it lol...ill just take it to the shop and have someone else do it ....thanks

oh yeah, chevy small block is right there on top. can't be any easier than that..lol

yeah tried replacing on a aerostar 4.0 this weekend and i can get to two of the three bolts but the last one is about 2 to 3 millimeters away from getting a socket on it. not even that far really i just almost get it on but no deal and now i have to remove what seems like the whole front part of the motor to get to it. try getting to the water pump bolts is tricky too.
