Pulled the computer (ECM) and it has 3.0 Taurus or Sable only HF printed on it. Ok? What is it doing in a '87 Ranger with a 2.9? Is it some sort of performance or milage modification? Any help out there?

Does your truck have a Mass Air Flow Sensor on it? Someone could have done the Mass Air conversion to it with a 3.0 pcm.

A friend of mine recently pulled the ECM in his '86 B2, it was also for a 3.0 Taurus........I don't know if this is common but it is coincidental, I believe he changed his to a 2.9 unit but I am not sure whether it made a difference in the way it ran or not.

I will ask him when I talk to him or you can send him a p.m., his user name on here is djhitz.....click on my user name and he will be on my friends list.

I just helped someone on the forums with the same thing! I sold him a new computer. Really odd....

You have a 3.0 Taurus/Sable computer because the original one went bad and back in 87 it was close enough to get the engine running and that's what the guy who owned it could find in the junk yard.

Same thing I found in my '88 Super.
