D44?

I'm swapping axles and i wanted to know which axle i should go with.
I'm going with 1/2 ton axles so its gonna be a 9" and a D44 full width. should i go with the SA D44 or get the TTB D44?
The truck may be a DD not sure yet. Which would be stronger? More reliable?
i can do any fabing i need to I just need to know which would be better for flexing and such. Thank you in advance.

Personally, I would go with a solid axle D44, but it depends on what you are planning for the truck. If you are concerned about flexing, then go with the solid axle...

for a total flex hog that going to live its life in the rocks, straight axle.

for a all a around truck TTB. take a look at autofab.com they have a kit, to give you some ideals maybe.

I know of a truck that getting parted out that has a d44 TTB already up front, and a bunch of other heavyduty crawler type running gear. :dntknw:

I would say its kindof a crap-shoot for strength & reliability (some D44 solids had 3/8"-wall tubes, would give you some more strength there, at the cost of extra weight).

The solid axle can give you the biggest flex numbers, although I don't think any USEFUL amounts of flex is greater than what a fullwidth TTB axle could provide as well (25" or so).
Both will need some tinkering to get any decent flex at all from it.

As the others have said, knowing your planned use for it would help in deciding which would be the better way to go.
