Well, the title says it. I blew a head gasket last week when my water pump failed. I tore down the engine to replace the head gasket (v6 3.0L vulcan in an aerostar). I was told to get my cylinder heads skimmed and checked for cracks. Right now I've got the exhaust manifolds, cylinder heads, and the lower intake manifold installed and torqued down. I went to install the push rods and rockers and some of them are loose.
I've spent the morning looking for answers online. Have any of you run into this problem before? Did I do something wrong, or is this just a newbie mistake?
The lifters in this engine are hydraulic. The car has been sitting in our garage since January 13.
