i went up to the junk yard today an pulled a bigger alternator for my 2.3 splash project.. well i pulled one off a 99 sohc 4.0 explorer an noticed that the plug was different. the alter is basically brand new its a reman.. will this fit on the 96 2.3 ? i also pulled one off i wanna say a 96 sport 4x4 explorer this deff looks like the bigger case but its going to need a rebuild.. what i would like to do is swap the 130 amp one i already have on my 95 4.0 its 130 amps an put that on the 96 2.3 an get one of these other ones built a little bigger for my 95 4.0..
the alternator i took off the 96 explorer physically looks bigger/deeper than the 99 alternator.. but is the 99 alternator able to fit on a 2.3 or 4.0? what would have to be done?
also i keep hearing about adding a fuse in the alternator line.. i changed the line on my 95 to 4 gauge an didnt add a fuse.. never knew about it i think it goes to the solenoid on the side of the fender.. i thought this was already fused?
