Built Tranny

I have a 03 Ranger that is 4x4 and I wanted to make the tranny pretty much bulletproof since I hard that these trannies go out really easy once you start running them hard. I was wondering if you guys knew any good places to get parts for the tranny to make it pretty beefy? Thanks alot

You don't make a transmission "beefy" by replacing selected parts, except for the limited case of errors. The transmission is a system, and "beefiness" often requires a different design.

No transmission is "bulletproof," and you can kill ANY with an unnoticed leak. Most can be damaged by overuse of overdrive.

If you want to protect it from shocks, just make sure it isn't the weakest link. Odds are, you'll kill a U-joint, axleshaft, or hub first, anyway.

Look into this. Its called the Frankentranny. there is a guy on here that has built one. I forget who it is though.
