Rear End Identification Help

I picked up a 8.8 from a 1990 4.0 ranger. The door was gone so i couldn't get any info from it. I looked at the tag on the rear end but CANNOT find any info to help identify it. Heres the tag numbers,

S 326 A
08 8.8 0F26

Is that good or bad for a 302-347 C-4 swap? I'm running a 3600 stall in the trans. It's gonna to be a street/strip track. What's the difference between open and closed? 308gear ratio?

Great for mileage using a C4, but for the strip it would probably like 3.73s better. The difference is between open and limited slip, an open diff will easily spin 1 tire instead of both.

Guess I'll be swapping the 308's for some 3.73's. Don't know if to go with a mini spool or a true trac. Any suggestions for street and strip use?
