clutch

ok so i have a 84 b2 4x4 m/t and since i have a bad left knee which makes it hard for me to let out the clutch i was wondering if i could use something like a brake handle off aa bike and connect it to the shifter if that would work.. any ideas welcome

i was thinkig more alog the lines of bike brake hooked to the shifter and the when u put it in gear u just release the handle like u do on a motor cycle

I think you would need something with a little more leverage like one of those hand controls in the link. Something you could really push down on. You could rig up some kind of cable that would pull the pedal down but it would take alot of strength to operate the handle.

ok then maybe use a setuo like a pinbal machine the part that shoots the ball and hook up a cable to it so wen u pull it towards u it pulls the petal to the floor. it would use 2 pullies and all u gotta do is let it slide back in being there is a spring behind it which in turn it would disengage the clutch letting the truck move forward here is a little drawing of what i mean

I think you are underestimating the amount of force required to move the Master.

Having bench-bled a removed slave/master, I can tell you that it takes some considerable force to stroke the master. I'm talking Popeye forearms unless you gain some serious mechanical advantage.

I'm thinking something along the lines of a motorcycle front brake hydraulic system. Key is to find one that would provide enough flow and pressure to fully stroke the slave. Not to mention orienting it such that its reservoir is upright.

I'm not aware of any hydraulic motorcycle clutches, but that might be a better option.

If anyone else will be driving it, you may want to consider T-ing into the existing hydraulic clutch system so the clutch pedal remains functional.

You might find some fabrication assistance for something like that over on Pirate4x4. I would not post that in ChitChat.

the pic i drew in my last post made it so the clutch pedal is still functional and the cable hooks to the clutch pedaland when u pull on the handle it would in return pull the clutch pedal to the floor so its not like im gonna hook it straight up to the clutch and take the pedal out..... and doofy i dont have the money to spend on a a/t let alone a new b2 cause there are only 8 in close to here and that includes 4 towns, and the jy around here charge a arm and a leg. for example i need a new hatch handle and the wanna charge me 45 used and i can go get a brand new one for 30 plus 10 shipping
