most of the 1994 rangers ive seen are advertised with 265 tires, in which case how is it possible that the guy i bought it from replaced the original tires with 235 kumhos? it still has stock rims... or did i just get screwed with smaller rims???

265 and 235 is the width of the rubber in millimeters. For example
235/75r15
235 is width in mm
75 is aspect ratio, so 75% of 235 mm = 176.25 mm
15 is the rim size in inches

so with my standard rims can i run 265's?
right now ive got 235/75/r15's

so with these being 235/75/r25's, how tall, (in inches) are these

Actually, tires sizes vary wildly depending on brand. A 31x10.50x15 can be anywhere from 30" to 32" if you actually measure them. I always bring a tape measure when I buy tires.

235's were the standard, don't think the 265 was ever an optional tire except for maybe the FX seriers.

This is true. I was told that the variance has to do with the tread. My 30" BFG A/T's measured at 29.5".

My old (96) Ranger says 265/75/15 on the door sticker, and that's also what it has.
