So it seems somebody dragged a bag of nails or something across my fender. Stepside bed, fiberglass. Got all the way through the paint.

I've never ever had to do any paint repairs before, so where to start? I'm not looking for perfect, but I'd like to make the scratches less glaring.

While I'm at it, I need to get a few lighter scratches out of my doors. Any pointers on buffing? Never done that before either.

It's the dark gray paint, BTW.

as far as the scratches in the bed you need a steady hand and a bottle of touch up paint. as far as buffing BE CAREFUL YOU CAN BURN THROUGH THE PAINT thats why i don't run a buffer i usually end up burning through the paint on the edges

on the tag on your drivers door there should be a spot with paint codes,
my dark charcoal was, I think YT or YN. Duplicolor paints have their color codes cross referenced with most major car companies codes. Check this out: http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/rodi/dupdschart.html
Oh and autobarn has a good supply of colors if you can't find your's locally (I couldn't)
