My project: I currently have a 1992 Ford Ranger STX, extended cab, 4x4, V6, manual trans and I am seeking information on building a 2wd prerunner style truck out of this core. I'm searching the forums but only finding 2wd to 4wd conversions. Am I undertaking a rare conversion?

why not just keep the 4x4 and extend the beams and long radious arms? the front end of the 2 and 4wd use the same design and concept.

try looking for some i beams for a 2wd bronco 2....that will bolt up...and a 2wd explorer will bolt up...but you do have to change one drop bracket. i believe it is the driver side i beam drop bracket.

Why would you want to make it 2wd? With the amount of time, money, and effort needed to change out the brackets, find some forged I-beams and bend them, get rid of the transfer case ect, why not just send in your TTB to get "cut and turned"? 4wd prerunners are pretty rare, and it would be cool to have something different. That's just my opinion though, so whatever floats your boat. :icon_thumby:

if you're on a budget, talk to dave at threat motorsports. high quality parts at cheaper prices than places like camburg.
