extended or supercab?

After seeing some parts being listed separately from reg/ext cab for supercab(thinking fuel pump) I'm wondering if my truck is a considered a extended cab or supercab.

How do I tell the difference? And will a fuel pump from a reg cab ranger work properly in either?
 
My 99 is called a Supercab since it has 4 doors (rear access doors). If you don't have this feature it is just an extended cab as far as I know. Every time I have seen a Supercab for sale in the paper or at a dealership (new or used) it was listed as a Supercab with the rear access doors.

All 126" wheelbase Rangers are called supercabs whether it has 4 or 2 doors.

yep. my 97 two door is a Supercab. it is really a trim designation that Ford uses...

I think Chevy's called theirs extended cabs. same difference.

"Supercab" is Ford's name for the extended cab (which I believe is also trademarked).

Similarly Toyota uses "Xtra Cab", Nissan "King Cab", Mazda "Club Cab", Isuzu "Space Cab" (might have those last two mixed up, not sure)

Chevy/GMC AFAIK doesn't use a trademarked name (it's just an extended cab).


As for the fuel pump, I think Supercab tanks are a bit lower profile than reg cab tanks, so the pumps I don't think will swap.

Yeah, a few of us were PMing him over Ebay telling him that he was listing parts for a vehicle that didn't exist and he kept saying that Moog's catalog said they fit that vehicle and so they must be for that vehicle.
 
Hmm I got a fuel pump from an explorer in it now, it is working slightly better then the old one which didn't work at all.
 
I dont know man, it might be more regional than technical.

For example, a topper(such as leer) is commonly called a topper or a canopy in my home state, Montana. But here in Ohio, it is more often referred to as a truck cap or contractors cap.

Lots of things are "translated" depending on where you are.
