I have a 98 ranger xlt 5 speed 2.5L. I have been considering several options on what to do.

one is a turbo swap, I've been reading up on this on turborangerforums.com.

two, I wanted to swap in a 4.0L. How hard is this swap? what kind of things would be needed? besides the obvious of the motor, transmission, and wire harness? what driveshaft would I need to use? what kind of aftermarket support is there? like for headers, cams, etc.?

You will need a real rear end for one thing. Trans, harness setup from the 4.0of course. Go to the search section, Bro. There are a lot of post on engine swaps. Good luck.

Screw it while your at it, if doing an engine swap, do a 5.0 and be done.

Im told that the 2.5 have different types of connecting rods. They are made out of aluminum powder that is then formed and heated. They are weaker then the 2.3's but I have seen a couple of turboed 2.5's but they only run about 5 psi of boost.
