Tailgate Replacement

Being new to the board I figured this is a good place to find info. I severely dented my tailgate on my '11 :bawling:

as to where I need to replace it. My local body shop wants $900 to replace it with new. Is there any place that has quality tailgates that I can buy then have painted, or is this this going price?

id just pull it but thats me haha. call the local scrap yards. anything from 98 and up will work. ford hasn't changed them at all. might even get your color!

If you want the same heavy quality tailgate, hit the scrapyard. They ain't cheap, but as has been mentioned, you may even find the right color. I bought an LMC gate for my 87 and it was fairly cheap, but also fairly lightweight. If you plan on using the truck to haul stuff of any weight at all, get a factory (junkyard) gate. You might also call the local dealer. I bought a new fender from Ford for less than one from the junkyard several years ago.

Any 93-2011 tailgates will work (except Flair-side tailgates) but the 06+ are the only ones with the big Ford emblem in the middle.
