im thinking about doing a 4bt cummins swap in my ranger. I was trying to collect information on parts i would need and all that. Any info would be much appreciated. thanks.

what trans do you use in a ranger with a 4bt cummins

Thats good for a stock/ slightly turned up 4bt. If you plan on doing any work to it, you will want a ZF from a 250/350.

ZF5 from 90's f250/f350? You could definitely handle any power, but the ZF6 is enormous and heavy, it wouldn't fit if I had to guess.

Yeah, ZF5-S42 or S47. (small block version) IIRC the ZF6 only came behind the diesel, you'd need a $1000+ adapter to mate it to a 4bt.
