I am looking at buying a 1989/90 B2 for $750 (or less) that has no spark. Or at least that is what I am told by the mechanic. What could be wrong with it?
Everyone I asked at the shop says ignition module or distributor.

Ignition module.

Or distributor.

Maybe the coil... but not likely.

Or ignition module.

Ignition module would be my first thing to check - the infamous TFI module.... Autozone can test them.

Distributor would be my next likely suspect.

And yes, a coil would be on the list. I've had to put two of them into different trucks of mine - one because of no-spark and one because of weak spark.

And PLEASE use dielectric grease on all electrical connections! The one coil I had to replace because of weak spark - the end the plug wire hooked to was corroded halfway off because no grease had been used by previous owner(s).

One last question.
Is 750 a good price for this B2? Rust free or at least very little from what I can see. Interior is clean. manual t-case and hubs but automatic.

If it doesn't need anything major to get running that's a good price.

Not a terrible price if it's in good shape other than the no-spark....

But I haven't spent more than $340 on a BII yet. Only one ran when I bought it (well, it would have ran if we had a good battery for it when I picked it up, lol). One was a no-start (fuel problem - turned out to be a half-baked wiring repair job). One was a cracked head problem and the last was a parts rig. The one with the cracked head I ended up putting a junkyard motor in, the other two were relatively easy fixes but also needed some bodywork.
