Do any of you guys have any information about switching over an egr motor to a non egr motor. i believe all that is needed is to switch intakes and manifolds. I have both motors so I can swap parts any which way. it's a 4.0 ohv out of a 99 ford ranger.

I have no clue about what you are trying to do, but I was under impression that the 4.0L went from a OHV to a SOHC engine at the same times as the body/ suspension changed in '98...

Am I wrong about that?

EDIT: Hmm, I'll take that back, the Tech Library says '01 was the change. I just thought it was earlier than that..

Umm, it's illegal to disable an emissions device. It's Federal.

And you might want to study up on what EGRs do and when they are active. Hint: it isn't only emissions.

It was first used in explorers as an option in 1997. Rangers got it in 2001.

I've changed a 3.0l from egr to non-egr, had the blockoff plate available and just plugged the manifolds. Had no adverse effects.

To answer the OPs question, yes that should be all you need to do. Possibly the computer too maybe?
