2010 xlt ..Proper routing of axle vent hose?

greets all-

have an 2010 xcab xlt and my axle vent hose fell off and I was wondering if anyone had a pic handy on how to route it properly? is their a clip on the frame it attaches to?
 
It should clip to the top lip of the frame rail right above the axle pretty much.
 
That's where it is on my '94 (sounds like it hasn't changed at all).
 
You know just as well as I do Junkie, that not a whole hell of a lot has changed under these trucks.

i tried to see on a parts drawing where it went but no luck...ill look at the frame just above it and see if i have any luck.....anyone happen to have a pic handy?

I actually had been looking underneath some trucks a few months back... You're absolutely right, most of the fundamental stuff has all remained the same, though it seems I always do come across some petty differences such as in the routing of wiring or other crap (probably added emissions and/or OBDII crap). As hokey as a hose simply clipped to a frame lip is, I always wondered if Ford would ever try to change it in some way or not :icon_twisted:. Simple is always better though :D

You could just even zip tie it up there to the cross brace under the bed where those 2 holes are. Not super important that it is clipped to the frame.
 
Just took this pic on my 2010 fx4 and that hose goes to the small clip on the canister above rear tire drivers side .

I'm reviving this thread, because the free end of the rear axle vent hose on my 2011 Ranger (std cab 2WD 2.3L auto) has come loose.

However, I do not see the sort of clip on the frame that others above have mentioned. Instead it appears that the rear axle vent hose might have been attached to a flanged hollow plastic plug, which is inserted in one of the small holes at the bottom of the bed support.

I have done a fair bit of googling, but most of the photos online show the end of the hose attached to the axle, rather than the other end. (At least I learned what the thing is and what it's for. That's a start!)

I gather from what I've been reading, though, that I could just MacGyver something to keep that vent hose up there, as long the hose stays a bit slack and I don't pinch it.

Update:

Got the part from a local dealership (cost $14 CDN includes both vent house and flanged hollow plastic plug). The plug snaps into a hole in the bed support.

Interesting/strange that the 2011 XL with the 7.5 axle should a bit different from what I saw elsewhere online.
