I already have a 8.8 and a D35 ready to swap in but I want to put gears in them first.

I have an 86 ranger with a 2.3L final plans are 6" lift and 35" tires.

What gears should I go with to still be able to drive on the highway and not put to much stress on the motor?

Look around at the tire/gear chart on here.

4.88s are Ideal for a 6 cylendar...I'd go as low as 5.13 now that I see you have a 4 cyl.

She going to see much highway time or just mainly offroad? Answering questions like those will help you out.

456 was perfect with a 4.0 and 33's, youre going to want at least those 5.13s for 35s and a 2.3.

Agreed, anything less than a 4.0L V6 + 35" tires = 5.13 gears, even on the highway (unless you don't have OD, then maybe 4.56 or 4.88).

I voted 5.13's because that's the same thing I am doing...but I already have them in my 8.8!

running that combo in mine, I vote 5.13's!

End thread.

JK, but it is pretty clear at this point :icon_thumby:
