i have a 1994 mazda b4000. when i stop at a stop light and set for 10-15 seconds, it feels like my truck downshifts while setting still. any idea what causes this. it is really noticeable. thanks for your help.

how would you feel a shift when your not moving? does it lurch forward, or does it make a thud? a random noise could be one of maybe 100 things.

try when stopping, putting it in neutral and see if it still does it.

no ,only does it when in drive. and i guess you could call it a thud, but it feels like a downshift.

Do you have your Defroster on?

When you are running the defroster the A/C Compressor is running (yes, even if you have the heat on) and you may feel it engage/disengage with a bit of a thud at idle after coming to a stop honestly...
