The Crown Vic is officially dead

What a sad day. They are really nice looking cars. I was looking forward to the days when I can't wipe my own ass and I'm taking Geritol so I could rock a Crown Vic (kind of like Ratdog is doing now). But, I guess that chapter is not going to happen.

Hell, I'm 23 and I'd rock the hell out of a Crown Vic. I'd put some black steelies on it and watch everyone get the hell out of my way on the highway. Or I could get a Mercury Marauder

I agree, the Marauder was a hot looking car. I'd LOVE one of those.

Getting rid of all the good cars! I miss big, comfy, smooth, quite cars like these. I miss Hood Ornaments!!!! I had heard at one time that I thought they were still going to make these for Police work? Maybe also make Grand Marquis??
Not to bring up another brand, but I read that the caprice was making a come-back in Police work..........and it would be built in a foreign country......why.......

The Crown Vic has been unavailable to civilians since 2008 and has only been sold to police and other fleets since then. Mercury has been dead for the past year or so and the plant that made both Crown Vic and Grand Marquis is closing, so the Grand Marquis isn't coming back.

The Caprice is making a police comeback, I don't know where it's being built.

the new caprice is supposedly being built on the pontiac g8 chassis from holden

I must have been reading an old article. Too bad, though, good cars. I had a 1991 Grand Marquis and a 1989 Crown Vic. Lost an engine in one and a transmission in the other, but good cars and not bad in the snow. The trunk room of two cars!!

I want a grey 87 with the silver high lights and red plush interior.

My grandpa had that car for years. IT. WAS. AWESOME.

EDIT: Here is a really crappy picture of the car.

Sad but Ford got their money out of that car. The frame is from the late 70sand and the body style has not changed too much in 10 years. I would imagine that Ford will do something with the Taurus chassis for a police interceptor...

They already are. I have a friend who works for the Shenandoah County Sheriff's Dept.

They got 2 SHOs a few months ago to replace their oldest Vic Interceptors.

Around here, they're all switching over to the Dodge/Chrysler stuff.

I like my CV PI, btw!

You guys are way too young to remember the first Crown Vic's. Really got the sales moving at Ford in 55-56. My grade school teacher had one with the green sun roof.
