View Full Version : Putting ABS/vvs on 9"

OK Guys I have a lot of questions today. well I started a 4.0 swap into my 87. in doing this swap I changed the gauge cluster from a 04 not thinking of the fact that the gauge runns off the rear axle vvs sensor. but I alrady bought matching 9inch and d44ttb for this project. So I was wondering if anybody has ever changed the tone ring on to a 9". the guys over at desert ranger swap 9" into the prerunners and do the tone ring change over but I cant get a responce from them. thank guys.

I know a guy that tack welded one onto the back of the detroit in his 9". Worked great, had to drill a hole in the third member to mount a sensor.

canyoncritter where you able to bolt that tone ring right up. I haven't opened up the diffs yet. and how did you mod the thirdmember. thanks that really helps and give me a lot of hope.

Instead of using a standard yoke, buy a companion flange that is already machined to be a tone ring. They are out on the market you just have to look. Make a bracket for a VSS and done.

yep, curt leduc, california pre fun has them. and you get the yoke and bracket....




external tone ring's work ok for you guys that play in the goop?

know of a guy that will setup a internal tone ring like int he pics above, but says its a PITA, weakens the 3rd member and take a few more fallen leaves off the money tree
