I have a 1992 Ranger 4x4 2.3 5spd that I have owned since new (Jan '92). The last few days I've had problems with the front calper "appearing" to be stuck. The brakes overheat on a drive of only 10 miles or so.
Calipers/pads/rotors/wheel bearing were new in Dec 2010. Hardlines and flexhoses (front & rear) were new in July 2011. At that time I vacuum bled all 4 corners ,starting at the right rear,left rear etc.etc.
I cannot retact the piston using a c-clamp,UNLESS I open the bleeder screws. This leads to me to think that the calipers are fine , but something is preventing fluid from returning to the master cylinder.
Any ideas? Does vacuum bleeding, as opposed to pressure bleeding mess up the postion of the master cylinder pistons? Or have I just reached the end of my MC's "service life"?
