Hey guys, obviously im new. I drive an 89 2 wheel drive ranger, with a 4 speed standard and 5th gear overdrive. Aside from much body work to be done, I am concerned about a rather prevalent jerking back and forth when in gear and not applying throttle. Also I p will be changing the bushings in the front end body mounts. I plan to begin working on it this weekend and any tips tricks and pointers would not only be a huge help, but also much apreciated.

Your statement about "I am concerned about a rather prevalent jerking back and forth when in gear and not applying throttle." is a little confusing. Could you explain a little further? Does it seem like the engine is surging?, or is a side to side jerking? I'm sure someone could help with a little more info.

I was also confused. Is the jerking back and forth as if the engine mounts are garbage? Then when you apply throttle the engine rotates to one side and stays there? That's the only thing I could think of with the description you gave.

Only thing I will say is that you are not really sure as to what is going on and you really should for safety's sake take it to an expert to have it looked at or get a well qualified friend to look at it.

I think he means that when he lets off the throttle and (I am only guessing here) lets the rpms get low, the truck starts bucking.
