i have a 88 supercab ranger 4x4 and was woundering what size winch should i go with,8000 or 9500? cant you devide the gross of your truck with a number to get the winch you need, some thing like that.:dunno:

Either would be good for a Ranger. Which ever you find a deal on first, but it's always nice to have the extra pulling power with a 9500. I'd most likely just go with an 8000 because they usually can be had cheaper.

what make would you go with tho, warn probly the best right, but also the most expensive??

General rule is 1.5 times your vehicle weight, if you plan on using it, go 2 times, so an 8000 should be plenty.

i lost the mag that had the artical on winches and how to choose one and i think after i devided it it was the 8000 is the lowest you want to go, so i think an #8000 would do the job, thanks guys just wanted to see what others would say...mike

Check out this vid........it's about 12 minutes long though. Half way through it, they start the comparisons. It amazed me how the high priced Warn did.

I gotta say I was proud of my MileMarker SE9500 several weeks ago. Five pulls in a row & it never overheated or lagged for power;

It pulled in this order......
1 - Jeep Wrangler
2 - GMC Suburban
3 - Toyota Tacoma
4 - Ford Bronco
5 - Jeep Cherokee
