hey guys, i'm sort of getting tired of having the rubber wrapping around my tranny shifter and i am thinking that i want to cut it near the bottom so i can have just the bare stick showing (like the FX4 Level II shifters) has anyone ever done this before, or am i just coming up with stupid ideas nowadays, anyways i'm thinking cut right at the base of the boot and melting the rubber back together (my dad has done this with plastic and a saudering iron and it holds pretty sturdy)

you cant cut the boot too far down, the stick is bolted to the stub that sticks out of the trans....and i assume you dont want that joint showing.

why not just get a hurst shifter?

anyways i got it cut, and sort of a temporary fix (ziptied the hole shut), my friend has a BW-1356 tcase shifter boot hes willing to give up so i am going to rig it up somehow with the hole in the existing boot to make it all purdy..I'll post a pic in a bit.
