i have a 2000 ranger when i push the buttons for the windows to go up or down all that happens is some clicking noise coming from behind the dash board is there a relay back there that needs replacement?

I'll be happy to send you the schematic diagrams from the Ford manual. Just PM me your e-mail address. I already have them handy, ready to send, in .pdf format (Acrobat).

From your description, I suspect you have blown fuse #4 (20 amp) in the Underhood Junction Box, which may mean a bad window motor (unless it has been icy there and you powered the windows down and THEN they quit?)

FYI, the relay you hear is in a very hidden location you might NEVER find. It's simply called a relay box and it is hidden very well in the space below/near the heater controls. Mine was only visible and accessible by lying on the DS floor looking up into the center. It's simply a plastic box with relays in it. Our year comes with the nifty "accessory delay" that allows PW operation after key off, but BEFORE door opened. It also holds the battery saver relay, should your door ajar switch gum up and keep your dome light on - this saves your battery from dying. The PW one-touch down relay module is also in there, but I don't suspect it being the problem.

The fact that you can HEAR the relay points to fuse #4.

Last thing, do your power rear view mirrors work, does your DS power door lock work, and does the DOOR AJAR light come on with the passenger door opened? If not, Ground 203 is probably bad. You will find it below the LH dash fuse box (probably have to pull the kick panel to see it).
