hows everyone hauling their bronco's?

i own a lifted jeep grand cherokee and even though it has a v8..i wouldnt trust it to pull a bronco on a car trailer. its just not set-up for it. what kind of ways are you guys pulling yours around when you go wheelin? ive seen a couple people somehow attach it the the frame on their hitch and pull? dont know how that works. but just seeing what kind of ideas are out there
 
a jeep should be fine if it has the tow package?
 
A chain above the rear axle tube, down around the pinion, and back over the other axle tube for the rear.

A single chain around each front axle beam.

I do think those nylon straps that wraps around the tires would be really slick though.

Chaining around the body doesn't work, as it goes over bumps the vehicle slams up and down against the chains and will eventually break something.
 
yes i have a reese hitch with trailer light assembly if thats what you mean? i hauled two fullsize zero turn mowers on a double axle car trailer before and it was okay but that was before lift and 32s. i know the mowers arent quite as heavy as a b2
 
Not a Bronco, but this is how i pull my Ranger around.....

I've always wanted to find me an old medium duty roll back(hook it, winch it up, hook the rear axle, tighten, drive away).
 
I used to own a Grand with the v8 and I would't trust that thing to haul a trailer and a heavy bronco on it, especially with those small brakes.
 
i've used my zj to pull my ranger and it was fine but i was using a car dolly i didn't even feel it back there
 
I mean it probably does't help that my Jeep was a piece, but it did have the the power (5.9), I just wouldn't feel confident hauling anything more than a couple miles.
 
Even if your Jeep had the POWER to pull a Bronco, or any car really, I don't know if I would trust it completely. IMO, you need a long wheel base truck to pull something like that. Coming from a person that towed a 91 Mustang with a 00 Explorer. It did it and it was my only option at the time, but would I do it again? Probably not. It's not worth the damage it potentially did to my braking system and transmission because they weren't built to tow that kind of weight. Plus I wouldn't want to deal with the horror stories that come with towing a trailer that's longer than your truck.
 
Using an '89 F-350 dually dump with a 460 and 5-spd I have hauled....

a BII on a 14' dual axle equipment trailer
a 2000 Ranger Ext cab on a 16' dual axle equipment trailer
a 1979 F-150 4x4 on a tow dolly

No problems at all with that setup - didn't hardly know anything was back there.


Using my 2000 Ranger Ext Cab 2wd with a 3.0L and 5-spd I have hauled....

'88 Bronco II 4x4 Eddie Bauer on a tow dolly
'89 Bronco II 2wd on a tow dolly
'89 Bronco II 4x4 (my choptop) on a tow bar
Lifted YJ Jeep on a tow bar

You knew it was back there. Starting out on a hill was a little tricky and stopping took a LOOOONNNNGGG way. But overall, it wasn't bad.


Using my '95 F-150 4x4 4.9L with a 5-spd I have hauled....

my choptop on a tow bar (before I fixed my suspension and swapped my 3.08 gears for 3.55)

I hated it. I swear it towed worse than my Ranger like that. I haven't tried it since the gear change and upgraded suspension though - I suspect it will tow a lot better now since I hauled a CUT (compact utility tractor) on a 14' dual axle equipment trailer behind the F-150 and it did an admirable job.
 
The all wheel drive wouldn't bother me as much as the trans or the brakes would.
 
ive hauled my b2 on a landscaping trailer before. it was made for the zero turns, the tires on the b2 rubbed both sides , it just barely fit on there but worked .it wasnt with my jeep though.
