welp. im bored atm so i decided to go ahead and start my build thread.
i already have allot of stuff done, but ill try to find some old pics and be as chronological as possible.

when i first got the truck :

1994 ranger STX 3.0L 4x4

i was driving my brother around with our cousin teaching him how to hunt prairie dogs while on the move.

first time i took it mudding :yahoo::

next step was to remove add exhaust and tail lights , window tint:
so i went with magna-flow cat back duals, added a magnaflow high flow cat , and some euro lights, dont remember the specs on the tint (like it matters)

next step was to remove fender flares and add 31's :

that basically worked for me for about a year or something then i had to do something else,

the route i took was to add an 8.8" ranger rear end with 4.10's and a new D35 with 4.10's; add f150 coils and spacers, picked up a set of super lift rear leaf springs for $50 and used those, gave me about 4" lift in the back , 3" in the front , also got a nice topper for $150 off CL

:

everything on and set back on the ground :

up in the mountains :

flat tire while climbing a hill, we were trying to air it up haha:

flexing :

some other junk i did while i was in this stage of the build :

2 10" subs:

amp and stuff :

added new instrument cluster prints also modified some instrument cluster needles i got out of a late 90's early 2000's mazda b-something they are neon orange :

added blue lights in the cab and an alpine deck :

after all that i kind of stopped working on it for about a year so i could make some headway on my 1940 merc project

im bored now though, have some more junk to post up (6" lift etc.etc.) , but ill save that for tomorrow

thanks for lookin! :icon_cheers:

well i guess that brings it up to speed,i reused my Saginaw power stering pump from the 3.0l on the 4.0l engine and it was kind of was a real *&%& to fit, the donor engine i had used was a 1991 4.0, it had the "stronger " bracket or whatever, but it was still a real joy cutting all the stuff to fit, but i do love the silent steering over the stock pos pump.

plans for the future :

fix the a/c
33x12.5xR15 tires
a light bar on the roof of the truck with rectangle lights
some new bumpers

also need to get my explorer overhead to work , i installed it about a year and a half ago but never got it wired. haha.

Looks like you have made a lot of progress. Nice work on the 4.0 swap, and the Merc looks fun too.

thanks man!

i think tommrow were going to go up for a day trip to get some action shots, should be cool.

on another note, does anyone know of a way to make a homemade sheet metal press break?

i want to make some little tabs to mount a light bar in the door jam that goes across the roof near the windshield

also, anyone got any good reviews on walmart lights or box store brands?

i want to use some rectangle shaped flood lights not sure what brands are good ( like within an $50 - $100 budget )

been awhile since ive been on here, havent really done much with the truck. last weekend i did re_do my sound system. turned out really good heres some pics, let me know what you think; :yahoo:

i ended up pulling out the fold down seats and welded in sheetmetal covering the hole, also welded some new steel behind the carpet right below the rear glass ( turns out it was hollow haha. never knew that , but it tottally made since of the past when i would try to mount caps and junk to it. )

i have to say, ported boxes really do a nice job. im happy going from sealed to ported :shok:

all back together =]

thanks allot man, i think this is year 5 that ive been working on it. progress always seems slow, but looking back at it, ive done allot of little things, and they add up.

this thing hits decently hard. i was driving down the highway to school the other day with it cranked, its enough to blur your vision.

subs togther are 1000W RMS, im running them at 600W RMS @ 4 ohms and im sure the actual value is lower. none the less, it does very well.

as for the spkrs. rears are infinity kappa 5x7's pushed @ 75W RMS , tweeters and front door alpine 5x7's are wired in parallel giving about 37W RMS / spkr.

very enjoyable for just the average day, and for those that i feel like doing damage to my ears it does just that =]

the only thing i need to sort out is when switching sources, between ipod radio etc. on the HU , the subs bump a little, to allot, ive narrowed it down to the sub amp.

im looking at getting a hifonics brutus amp for the next round. they have phaser circuits built into the amps , should be a blast to play with.
