Any body ever use this stuff? Looked at tsc today and for 35 bucks a gallon I would't care to put a coat of color on the ol ranger. So whats ever one thoughts on this stuff? And if its crap pleases suggest me a good cheap paint. I want to use tractor paint on this due to the fact I dont want to put over 150 bucks in a paint job. Yes I know i'm cheap but no use with a 1000 paint on a beater thats goin to get well beat.

Paint the whole truck in Durabak? It isn't as cheap as the tractor paint, but is nowhere near $1,000.

It wouldnt be cheap, but if you used the plasti-dip stuff. It would be durable as hell I would think. and if you needed a touch up you just spray more on. and if you want it off you just peel it off.

I bought three gallons of the same but haven't had a chance to use it yet. I paid C$40.00/gal at P.A. in Canada. I'd be interested as well in the opinion of someone who has used it , even though it's too late for me. I'll post up my impressions but it'll be winter before I get to it.

ive used it on my frame and axles if you get the red oxide primer for it it literately turns the rust into black dust if u paint a lil bit then scrap it off all the rust is black dust

but with the primer DO NOT put it on heavy or when u put the regular paint on it will act like rubber and just peel off with ur finger nail (i amde that mistake lol)

but someone told me they make a hardener for the red oxide primer so u can put a heavy coat on

I think im goin try this if I can find some good primer. I was planeing on thining it down and sprayin it. Im use ill go thro a few quarts just testing stiff on junk parts. But heck a nice(to me) 2 tone paint job 100-120 bucks in paint, and time sounds good to me..One thing I love about a 4x4/trial rig...she dont have to be purty

Haven't used Valspar.........Nason works pretty good,what I shot my 85 with.

Is that just tractor paint? And how much is it by the gallon?

Yep,Tractor paint.
Around $75 for a gallon of paint and reducer,Napa sells it.
It shoots really easy, only screw ups on my truck were my fault, crappy prep work...lol.

Just painted our SKyTRak with the rattle can Valspar tractor paint and it turned out awesome. It took quite a few coats, but it needed it bad. All in all, not bad stuff and it has held up for about 3 months sitting outside pretty well.

I have rattle canned a couple tractors, I haven't tried Valspar but avoid Van Sickle like the plauge.

It coats like water, and settles away from sharp points no matter how many coats you apply and how long you shake it.

I don't know who they got it from, but the old Tisco paint was awesome. My two A-C's are only faded after 10 years of being used like a tractor. Worn off the controls and platform which is to be expected but for a working tractor it worked great. The new stuff walks, talks and acts like Van Sickle though.

Good info...we need a sticky or someting on this, were people could see what kind of tactor paint is even worth trying on there rbvs.....So got to thinkin to day, why not mix up a color since i dont really like what they have at my local tsc..So tomarro after school im headed down to pick up some to mess around with and get 'the fill' for this paint.

Like what color are you wanting?

A lot of tractor companies changed colors slightly. There a couple different shades of JD green, A-C orange, Oliver green and red, Minnie Mo yellow and red and then you have Ford red, IH red, Massey red and all the different greys, whites, yellows and red trim color that go with them.

I am wanting to paint my truck the old 1930's Oliver green.
