Axle problems Im changing my rear axle wheel bearing on my 99 ranger 7.5 rear end and the right side was ez removed c clip an all was well..BUT the drivers side .... removed cilp EZ but the axle WONT come out ... This side is the worst bearing lots of play I dont think any bearings r left. I just got the truck so I dont know the history. Also anyone know a good link to help on changing timing belt... He said he has not changed it an has 200k miles so thats NEXT.. After this darn axle..

Thanks for ANY ideas

pull harder lol
sorry bud that's all i got.
but maybe some one else will post up with a real answer.

oh 1st post. welcome! im new too.

Go to autozone they have a rental tool that is for pulling axle shafts. It mounts on the lugnuts and uses a slide hammer to yank it out

it shouldnt give you much trouble as nothing holds it in other than the c-clip. check the splined end where the c-clip was and make sure the splines arent smashed or damaged, which would keep you from pulling it through the carrier which is also splined. the outer bearing doesnt have an inner race so its not possible for it to have spun and seized onto the axle shaft, just take a closer look and see whats causing the hang up.

as for the timing belt im assuming you have the 2.3l, but filling out all the vehicle information in your profile will keep others from having to as those simple questions. using the search function you should be able to find enough info to complete the belt change.
