1994 a4ld with EEC controls. Just changed the modulator valve. Intake was sucking in trans fluid. Changed the spark plugs as well. No more bucking out of overdrive and missfire gone. I am noticeing a delayed OD and it kicks out of OD too easily. Also there is a delayed 1-2 shift. Fluid is very clean. the 1-2 shift was good before the mod valve change out. Trying to find some info on what speed and rpm the tranny should shift into overdrive. I am going to adjust the bands and change oil and filter. Any advice appreciated. Since the the overdrive is computer controlled adjusting the modulator spring tension should not affect the OD shift. Am I correct in thinking this? More interested in the Overdrive problem especially with the prive of gas. The 1-2 shift is proboably dirt in the valve body or a band adjustment.

Found my shift problem. I feel really stuppid. Well not really! Goes to show that an above average technician that is not firmiliar with the product is just, average Joe!
I think I will try and stick with diesel engine rebuilding and diagnosing. Whish I could but, I drive a ranger. Unfortunately rangers break. Shift problem was a missing modulator valve pin that I just found in the old one. Tucked deep inside! Can't believe it actually shifts as good as it does.
