speedo needle jiggles on way up to 35mph

would this be a speedo cable issue or something else? basically it seems to jiggle or wiggle up and down a couple mph on the way up to 35mph. It like sweeps up and down just a bit while climbing... :yahoo:

Take the speedo out and sprinkle some graphite down the speedo cable to lube the inside. If that doesn't work, change the plastic speedo gear in the transmission. They are cheap and easy, although you need to amke sure to get the right one. There are probably 5 different ones. They are different colors, but the color is probably long gone off of the one in your tranny. If you can't see what color it was, count the teeth on the gear to get the right one... Otherwise your speedo will be off.

My '85 s10 does that. after 35 its steady. i just let it ride.

my 84 does it too, if anyone asks how fast we are going i just say "about..............."
