I'm pretty close to gathering all the parts to swap my broken 4.0 for a '88 Lincoln LSC 5.0 HO. Going to use exhaust manifolds and mounts from a Mountaineer.

Will the 88 EFI connect to my existing 1994 Ranger FI system--i.e. is there a return line on the 5.0 in '88?

I can get a Mountaineer auto trans with T/C pretty cheap, but should I bother or just use the AOD from the Lincoln with an adapter? Will there be elctronic issues using the Mountaineer trans without the ECM?

I'd appreciate any input or advice.

If those exhaust manifolds are the tube type, throw them as far as you can. The cast iron versions are at least better. The engine mounts will not work without a bunch of fabricating, use the common Mustang convert mounts. The Mountaineer trans requires the computer. best to stay with the AOD. No idea of fuel lines but no big problem, my guess is that the '88' has both lines. Just some quick answers.

I'd use every thing from the LSC. The fuel system does have a return line, and if I'm not mitaken the LSC motor mounts may work also. The exhaust may not work though. Good luck

Yes, Those mounts will work. May sit the engine a little to low, as the crossmember on a 4x4 blocks one of the drain plugs. But that's an easy fix if it happens.

Thanks for the replies---I'm new to the Ranger scene and especially to this kind of a swap, so your input is really valuable!
